Overheard at the Brighton Historical Society

“Hi, Judy, how’re you going? Are you being good?”
“Oh, yes, unfortunately.”
“Well, no matter, temptation might find you later today.”

“He’s young; he’d be in his forties.” 

“Don’t look at me in that tone of voice, that smells a funny colour.”

- Father, when I told him all books smell different. 

Later,

picks up the book beside him, smells its pages, then throws it at mum,

“Ah! ‘The Wasp Factory’, that’s scary, it’s yours… Nearly got stung by that one.”
